1983 World 3 Cushion Championship

Aix-les-Bains, France. May 3-8, 1983

From the notes of Carl Conlon (purchased by Deno Andrews): A very strong field with nine of the twelve players coming in with a 1.000 or better average. The return of Ceulemans of Belgium and Kobayashi of Japan to world play after a hiatus of one year adds to the quality of the field. The equipment was tables by Jean Marty (ie.- champion of the world), with Japanese cushions, Simonis type 300 cloth, and Aramith Balls (with the dark red ball). The hall (Cyclamen Room of the Flower Palace), was a theater with 1,400 seats, very comfortable, with the stage removed and 3 tables set in. The tables were somewhat closer together than usual but seemed to pose no problems. Also, for the first time, the tables were not parallel but set in a fan-shaped formation.
